Komu

Saturday, May 26th, 10 AM, Steel Lake Park, Federal Way.

Komu was the first of three dogs to search this day.  Komu worked through several acres of trees before entering the final cat zone.  Komu picked up the scent about eight feet away, narrowed it down, found Myron, and gave a small whine.  He didn't do the push signal.  His barking for a reward was a definite clear sign.  He got hotdogs for a reward.  Then Komu found a tennis ball and played fetch, for an additional reward.  On the way back to the car, he pointed out the remains of a squirrel, which I would not have noticed.

Then we practiced with decomp.  He caught the scent from about 4 feet away.  He gave me the push signal when I said the word comp, and he got his hotdog reward for that, too.
